About Us

Maureen Cronin is a writer, artist, and educator who at the time of Superstorm Sandy was living in Long Beach, NY. When the storm hit, her studio received major damage.  As a result, along with most of her personal possessions, she lost her treasured art tools and supplies.

When her sorority sisters from Emerson College heard of her loss, they rallied and sent care packages - among them were new art supplies. Maureen wanted to paint something for each one of them, but what to create? For years Maureen has created custom artwork, gifts, and inspirational pieces, but this had to be something she had not done before. It was then she had the idea to collect small pieces of the battered Long Beach boardwalk she had loved and paint angels on them; the boardwalk representing the storm, and the angels representing her friends' incredible generosity and spirit.

Soon after they were shipped, she began to receive messages and phone calls urging her to create more.  So create she did, painting mermaids, seahorses, beach scenes, and all types of special requests. As word spread, especially on Long Island, it seemed many wanted a special way to remember the much-loved boardwalk while rebuilding and looking forward.

The “Boardwalk Angels” collection was born, and is the newest in her line of handcrafted artwork, keepsakes, and gifts, with a portion of the proceeds donated to Sandy relief.
